Noise Monitoring: Are you Buying a Tool or Investing in a Capability?

When most people hear “noise dosimeter,” they think about the tool: time-weighted averages and a little box clipped on top of someone’s shoulder under their ear. That is the surface-level answer, and it is not wrong. But modern noise assessment is more nuanced. We do not simply want numbers; we want capability: context, causation, and the ability to ask “what if” after we have walked away from the job. We want to be able to defend our recommendations with clear evidence. This is where quality in noise dosimeters really shows its worth. Read on…

Making Silica Compliance Sampling in Mines Easy and Cost-effective

With upcoming compliance dates, many mine operators are busy putting into place silica exposure monitoring programs to meet MSHA Final Silica Rule requirements. One cost-effective measure that mine operators can take is to rent silica sampling equipment. Doing so eliminates cost of ownership, including annual pump service and flowmeter calibration/certification. Another is to order SKC PPI® Samplers that ensure sample integrity and defensible data. The ease comes from having all you need from one source, and the design of both SKC sampling pumps and PPI Samplers—ready to use, intuitive, precise, and effective.
